Cost to upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps and ground
StanFortyMan has made a lot of sense about my needs in a home with a 100 AMP Service.. I would like to upgrade to 200 amps.. with some ground sockets(or whatever this is called) and put in more sockets... The house is 1300 square feet... does anyone have a guestimate of costs??
    Thanks,
    Annie

    Why thank you.

Location is the single biggest deciding factor. Service type is next.

A 200A cable riser service in the Heartland might be $1600.
A 200A mast service in So Cal WILL be +/- $3500

In Florida it it depends on the length of run, panel changed? Larger conduit, Underground Service?
Sometimes I could do well with $3500, other times it could hurt.

Strat makes a good point I forgot to mention. If it is underground fed, figure much higher across the board.

Why are you thinking of upgrading a 100A panel to 200A, for a 1300 square foot home? Doesn't make any sense. Is the city forcing you to do this? Do you have a welding business out of your garage? Kidding. You should be OK.
