Here's the facts.

Multiple family members share allotments on roughly 12 acres of land.

One family member (Bob) made a homesite (2 acres), built a garage. Said family member moves a few miles away. His garage is still on his property, as well as a home building that is being renovated. He has not abandoned the site.

Other family member is trying to "over" on the land that "Bob" has his garage and currently renovating home on.

Basically, Bob built a home and garage on a 2 acre part of the total land owned. He later moves a few mies away, but his garage and housing building (currently being renovated) are still on the property. Now, one family member is trying to get the land (there is plenty of land left for the family to use, but this family member wants Bob's 2 acres, which has been landscaped and cleared, at Bob's expense).

What recourse does Bob have to ensure that his plot of the family land is not just taken away by another family member?

What are the legal arrangements on the division and allocation of plots for those involved?
You do not provide any information on that, but I suggest that it all depends on what there is "on paper"...

No, there had to be a legal subdivision or some legal contract dividing the land up. If not all parties on the deed own that share of the total property, and no home should have been built until it was legally divided.

This is truly something to talk to a Real Estate Attorney about. There are so many different squatter's rights rules after a specific period. Like in NC, there is a 20 to 30 spread. You will be much better off to consult the attorney.
