Old electric baseboard heaters will not turn off
Hello. I have two electric baseboard heaters in my dining room and they are controlled by a wall thermostat. Today they decided to just keep heating. Even when I turned the thermostat down they continued to pump out the heat. I finally turned the breaker off. Would this be a thermostat problem or do baseboard heaters finally stop working properly.
They are approximately 35 years old.

    Thank You for your help

We have ceiling heat but have the same issues occasionally. I take the cove off and try to wedge something in the dial so that the little piece that moves to increase the heat is completely shut off. Eventually this don't work and you just need to replace the themostat. I am working on one today and it is not working for me. Afraid it might be more than the stat.
