For the past 2 months, my period starts on time but it starts with brown discharge. I know this is old blood so that's fine. However, after a day or so I will have bright red blood or dark red blood. Then it turns back to some brown discharge again. I'm wondering if this could be a possible sign of an infection or early pregnancy or if there should not be brown during the middle of my cycle? I've never had this problem before.

See your physican. You need to get tested and have an expert answer your questions. I have the same type of stuff every month, I think it's my IUD. Yes, submitting to the pelvic exam has been put off by me, yet again... Just go, slide to the end of the table and shower them with questions.
