In the process of replacing a pressure tank on a well water system I have to make up some new connections using 1" ID and 3/4" ID braided PVC tubing and brass insert fittings with pipe clamps. What is the best way to get the inserts into the tubing? Would the heat from a hair dryer be helpful? What about WD-40?

I need more info. On this one. I have seen plenty of braided hoses in many systems... not sure about braided PVC tubing... insert fittings, etc..

The tubing is the stuff you can buy at Ace Hardware, etc. It is rated for cold potable water up to 150 psi. It is clear with poly mesh reinforcement. The fittings are brass MPT x barb male adapters. The clamps are the normal stainless steel hose clamps. I was able to buy the stuff locally.

Heat from hair dryer should help... or if have a propane torch, might lightly heat the tube so soft, and then insert barb ending (clamping while warm is a good thing).

I've got a torch, but that makes me a little nervous. I think I'll start with the dryer or some really hot water.

Hey Jerry... just work that torch like a hair dryer... back and forth real light like... when you see slight glaze to plastic then insert adapter. Could always practice on scrap piece..? Let us know how it goes... Mark
