    soil type
What type of soil do I use for Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Also, I have a small garden raised space, 12' x 30' and I plant the same items in the same place every year. What do I do to enhance the soil or what type of bagged soil, compost, etc. to I put fresh into the soil to ensure the crop does fine.

dadkann, I live in Florida and I always till the garden in spring(this weekend as a matter of fact) and I will add cow manure(krazy kow, I think it is called) on my last final mix. It reaally works good for me, I have nice green, healthy plants every year. You can get this at just about any garden center(wal-mart, Lowe's, home depot, etc.) My soil is on the sandy side throughout my yard but the garden has nice rich black dirt from years of repeating this process, hope this helps, happy gardening.:)

I live in New England and have a medium loamy soil in my garden. I.too add cow manure and peat moss to the soil before I till in the spring. I also use a straight 10-10-10 fertilizer (granular) around each plant at 2-3 week intervals. One thing you should do is rotate the position of the tomato plants each year to prevent soil borne fungus from affecting the plants.

Well worked soil. Have a soil sample test done, then follow the suggestions.
