Do you have to have a contractors license in California to Remove Wallpaper?
I have a cleaning business and I have been asked to remove wall paper a time or 2 and want to start a business doing wall paper removal. Do I have to have another license or get a contractors license to advertise for this?

You probably need one to install it but I highly doubt it if you need a license to remove it. You can hire wall paper steam strippers that are fairly simple to use.

I would say no but don't quote me on it.

I wish that I could get the link in post #2 to open up faster, it takes forever on my dial-up. But, I would think that since the tools to remove wallpaper are readily available at most home center/hardware type stores for the average consumer, that you wouldn't need a license to remove it. However, it might be possible that you would need a license to install wallpaper.

Very likely taking down wallpaper could be done without a license but he will need to make sure. As far as things sold must mean it is okay isn't necessarily so. In my state fireworks are illegal but they sell them every fourth of July. The car window tint is illegal over a certain percent and they sell it any way as well as the glow lights, wheel spinners and some other things.

I would be astonished if you needed a license to remove wall paper. It would be laughable. I know where I'm from anyone can do it. And someone with a trade licence wouldn't want to waste their time with a job that a labourer could do.

I was going to say I agree but nowadays you aren't even allowed to smoke in your own apartment in some places cause of the crazy laws they have.
