    balancing and writeing word equations
    Write and balance the following word equations
    nitrogen + hydrogen = ammonia ( NH3)
    Barium chloride + magnesiun sulfate =barium sulfate + magnesium chloride

    Well, basically when you have to write and balance equations , you have to know the chemical symbols for all elements involved and whether they occur as monoatomic (with only one atom) or diatomic (with 2 atoms) elements.

    Nitrogen + Hydrogen = Ammonia

    N2 + H2 - > Nh3

    To balance this , you need to first balance any one element in the equation ,ensuring both sides have equal number of the same elements. In this case , you should balance the hydrogen first:

    N2 + 3H2 - > 2NH3

    You will notice that:
    N2 = 2N
    3H2 = 2H3

    and therefore the equation is balanced.

    Try the next one yourself. Just remember to break everything down and once you get the hang of it, it will be simple.
