I have looked at the other questions and answers and can't find anything that quite matches my scenario. My boyfriend and I are traveling to Canada in May. Late Friday evening, we came upon the inadmissibility issue for people that have been convicted. My boyfriend has a conviction on his record (it is a Class A Misdemeanor here in Texas). It has not been five years since the punishment (probation) was completed. (It has been four and a half years since probation was issued as punishment and three and a half years since it was completed. He did no jail time.)

Does anyone know if we will have issues trying to enter the country or what issues we may come to expect by trying. I don't know if this matters or not, but we were planning on entering the country via ferry from Seattle to Victoria and leaving from Vancouver back to Seattle via rental car. Thanks in advance for any guidance or information.

Don't sweat it, you both will be fine. As long as there is no warrant for arrest and neither one of you is a suspected terrorist go and have a great time.:D

A misdemeanor is not something to worry about. Had it been a felony that could be a different story. Relax and enjoy your vacation.

I was not aware of any visa requirements for short term visits to Canada.
In fact there are some entry points I saw on TV last month that don't even have a manned post merely a phone booth to call and check in as you cross ( a much less traveled road of course)

But no issue with a misdemeanor
