    Beginner fish tank!
OK so I've got a goldfish of some variety which my sister decided to bring home from the fair.. the fool

Anyway... went out and bough a starter aquarium set 13 litre tank which came with a filter and some lovely multicoloured gravel. What else do I need and what recommendations can you make for me about what do buy/do? And yes.. I have bought food :-)

    Thanks in advance

Just add the fish and for the first few weeks you may notice the water being cloudy.
This is normal in a new tank.
Change about 10% of the water every day or every few days until it goes away.
It may take a while for the cloudy water to turn clear.
Don't get frustrated thinking something's wrong, it's normal and necessary for the tank to cycle.
Make sure you have a water conditioner to remove chlorine too.
Please, if you have any questions, feel free to come back and ask.

Yes, any time you add new water to the tank, add the conditioner too.:)

Buy some new tank conditioner, I'm not sure what it's called, aquacycle or something, and you add it to the water once a week. But it'll boost the good bacteria life in there and make sure your fish are happy and settled as soon as possible.
You could also buy an air pump, to pump bubble in, or an air stone which releases air as well.
Live plants are also good as they release oxygen for the fish, but they can make the tank dirty very quickly, so fake ones'll be fine as long as there's other sources of oxygen.
Position the top of the filter above the water so air bubbles are produced when the water flows back in
Change the water about every 3 days to start with, then eventually change it once a week. Don't change it too often, and don't change more than about 15% otherwise the fish get stressed and ill.
One last thing is a nice tunnel or something the fish can hide in, they love that! Make sure you buy a new one that's intended for use in a fishtank, other things can have harmful chemicals or bacteria on it. Good luck and have fun!
