I love wearing shorts and open back shirts but wearing them is embarrassing because i have 2 big noticeable scars. I have one on my right knee and one on my back towards my left shoulder. Does anyone have any remedies or ideas on how to get rid of these, or lighten them without plastic surgery ?
Thanks. Please help, summers coming and i love to wear shorts ! HELP PLEASEEE !

(Assuming you're a girl) You could always use cover up but that could get annoying. If all fails you could wear bermuda shorts. I have heard that lemon juice helps from a lot of people, but I have not tried it personally. At a local drug store there are probably creams that you could put on it everyday to fade it. I have bought one called PreVentin-AT. It was about $15 and is helping with my scars.
    Best of luck.

What kind of scars are these? Some scars can be lightened with over the counter ointments (such as Mederma which uses an onion extract) or skin bleaching cream (hydroquinone). These do not work with keloid (raised) scars.
I have had an aesthetician recommend a regimend of microdermabrasion along with hydroquinone, but this was a little too pricey for me.
Please know that any scar treatment takes MONTHS to show results. So you have to be a very patient person and also be consistent in your treatment.

This is absolutely true. You cannot "cure" a scar, you can only "treat" it. Silicone scar sheets are used and recommended by plastic surgeons and burn centers to reduce the formation of scars after surgury and to greatly reduce the appearance of old scars. Generally it involves a 12 week period of use. However, improvement can be seen in as little a three or four weeks. Scar Away is a product that replaced the popular Neosporin Scar Solution. You can easily find these on amazon.com. They will help.
