Bryant gas furnace model 383 KAV sometimes does not run
I have a 10 year old Bryant gas furnace model 383 KAV that sometimes does not run. The inducer motor does not come on and there are no codes. If I cycle the power several times it will eventually all work normally at least until the next morning when it may or may not restart after being off at night due to my set back thermostat. Sometimes it does come on normally in the morning for several days in a row. I appreciate any help. I can read schematics and use a VOM but I am not sure where to start.

Check for a intermittent blower door switch.

The link you provided did not seem to be the correct link. I found another question you answered with a link to a manual http://www.docs.hvacpartners.com/idc...it/sp04-62.pdf that might be useful.

Thanks for the suggestion. The heater did not come on this morning so I checked and I had 26.5 VAC between the common and other wires at the thermostat and also where the wires connect to the circuit board. I cycled the power and it did not come on at all during the day. I cycled the power when I got home from work and the heater immediately started normally. I also checked the blower door switch by checking the circuit board t-stat power as I manually operated the switch a dozen times and it cut and restored power normally.

Can you tell me how to check the inducer motor circuit or do you have any other suggestions? Thank you very much.

Just do a voltage check on the inducer motor. When the unit is turned on the inducer should have voltage present so the motor will run. If voltage is present and the inducer motor does not run the motor is bad.

Thank you. I will test the power to the inducer motor. If no power is present then the control circuit board could be bad? I am leaning towards that conclusion after reading the manual from the link.

If no power I would suspect the board. Make sure you also check for 120 volts going into the board also. Then check the board where the inducer gets its power.

My Bryant 383k will star the ignition but seconds after it will cut off and is only providing cold air to my home, I have already read the manual and how troubleshot by cutting the electrical and shutting out the gas valve for 5 minutes and setting the thermostat to the lowest setting, I've seen the ignition start but shuts down, I've checked the fuse box in case and reset the fuse box.. What else should I check for that can be causing the flame to stay on.. Thanks Lili
