Proven? The way things work in science is that a theory is developed that explains the observed phenomena. The theory that best explains observations and allows one to predict scientific experimental results is the "accepted" theory until something new comes along. Newton had a theory that explained motion of bodies pretty well before Einstein came along with a better theory.

Quantum theory is working pretty well at this time.

What do you mean by quantum theory? Quantum mechanics? Quantum field theory? Quantum electrodynamics? Quantum Chromodynamics?

These are all very successful theories in their respective fields which give amazingly useful predictions and are used every day in chemistry, particle accelerators, etc.
