    Depakote and Klonopin.together?
    Hi everyone,

    Allheart here :)

About a week or two ago a specialist put me on Depakote once a day and Klonopin 3x a day along with a couple of other meds.

When my hubby (bless his soul) went to fill the meds for me, the head Pharmasist, pulled him aside and told him, that she will fill it, but she warned him that these two meds should not be taken together. Ever.

So, when I went to my primary doc, who was not the doc that ordered these, he did not see a problem with it, and told me to stick with the program.

To tell you I felt awful, is an understatement. Flu symptoms, aches like crazy, but no flu.
I felt worse then when I started the meds.

Additionally, I have asthma, I read that with Klonopin, you need to be careful with this med. I don't think the specialist who perscribed these meds knew was asthmatic.

This AM we substituted the Klonopin with xanax and I don't feel half as bad.

Does anyone know if taking Depakote and Klonpin is a problem. I am not much for medicines, but this time, I didn't have much choice.

    Thanks everyone,

    Allheart.

My son was on both of those but he does not have asthma and you say there are other meds you are taking so they could also be factor.
Other than maybe groggy I don't think they should cause any other flu like symptoms, but I really don't know

Oh no help thank you. I am feeling better already. I have such a hard times with meds. And I think it's because of the asthma. I didn't take the kolonipin today, and do feel better.

Thank you so much. I just shook for hours as the day went on.

    You are a sweetie.

You have no idea how much you responding helps. :)

You have to be careful skipping doses you could end up in withdrawal but the ER did give me xanax to get through the withdraw of the antidepressant they had me on for a couple weeks.
Since they gave you xanax stick with that and I think you should ditch the kolonipin.
You need to tell both the doctors and the pharmacy your whole entire medical history (at least within the past few years) so they can all be on the same page and explain to you what is best for you and what to avoid and why.

You are right NO. But I was only on the Klonopin for 2 weeks. So far, so good.

I see my medicine doc tomorrow.

    Thank you again.

I was only on the paxil for 2 weeks and the withdraw was crummy.
(They claim it was withdraw because I missed a pill here and there)
But I think it was the paxil

I am fine now. I think it was just getting wet at work and the cold weather, starting back to work and the elevator, plus my low blood pressure and low blood sugar.
