Baby not moving! Good or Bad?
Im 38 weeks and one day pregnant. My baby has been still for about 4 days now. I asked my mom if she thought if it was good or bad she said "its been so long ago and there are so many new things that im learning about your pregnancy, i dont know what to think about it." I go to the doctor this coming Monday but I don't want to hear bad news that my baby boy's cord is wrapped around his throat and he can't breath. This is my first child, I have no idea what I would do. I need to know about how many days does your child stay still then you go into labor? Or is there really something wrong?

The baby gets oxygen through the umbilical cord, via the placenta. It does not need to "breathe" until birth, so you're OK there. If you have not felt the baby move for a few days, it could be that there is very little room to move around in there. Both of my pregnancies ended at 38 weeks as labor started. Some pregnancies last longer than others. My first didn't seem to move for about 2 days prior to labor. The second one was still for about 3 days. It's scary, but their stillness does not necessarily mean that anything is wrong.

Since it would ease your mind tremendously, why not go to the ER and have them check the baby's heartbeat.

As the baby gets bigger, they have less and less room to move around. But you should still feel some sort of movement, maybe just not a lot. Try laying on your left side and just place your hand on your belly and watch TV or read... do this for about an hour and I bet you will feel them move. Sometimes at this stage the movements are so small because there is less room, that you may not notice it during the day.

The day I notice my daughter wasn't moving, I laid down and did the counts like my doctor had told me. They had me go in to get checked out, and I ended up staying because my water broke while I was at the hospital haha!

But your doctor is there is help... if you are nervous or have questions, call your doctor and either speak to them or a nurse to clam your nerves.

    You are close!! :D

    Good luck!

Whenever you feel a substantial decrease in movement it warrants a check from your doctor or midwife. While there may be some slowing in movement towards the end, you should still be feeling some. Try something cold to drink right before you go to bed... or lie on the couch. You will often feel more movement when you are not walking about "rocking" baby.

My doctor told me try drinking a soda and lay on your left side turn everything off, and just be completely still for about a hour or two, and if you still feel no movements call the ER

You should be feeling around 10 movements in an hour, even tiny movements. Time to contact your doctor about this. Hope all is well, please keep us posted.
