Lawsuit about a credit card debt in Texas
I've just been serve with a lawsuit about a credit card debt that I've stop payment since 9/2004. I live in Texas. I did own the card about 16,000. Now that the collection agency said that I owned 46,000. I've not made enough to live on since then. What can they go after? I have a house the co-sign with my sister name on it and been file homestead exemption. Please advice. Can I file bankruptcy now? Thanks.

Welcome to AMHD. You can't pick creditors and you must list all of your property. You must disclose your income and budget. You are able to claim certain property as exempt; it varies from state to state. Find a knowledgeable lawyer in your area and get more information.
