Do I need four wires for electric hot water heater
    :)
I have an electric hot water heater (240v) that presently has 3 wires (2 hot and ground). I'm in new construction and think the code requires 4 wire ( 2 hot, neutral and ground) but I don't see anywhere on the hot water heater to hook the neutral except to the ground and this doesn't seem right.

Anyone know if I need 4 wires and if so where to hook the neutral.

    Thanks

4 wire is for Ranges and Dryers, Most 240 volt water heaters don't need a Neutral.
