    Removing mortar from tile
I want to reuse the tile on my floor. I was able to pull the tile up and get all the mortar off the floor but not off the tiles. Some tiles have a lot of mortar on them. Do you know how I can get this off the tile without breaking the tile? I want to put the tiles back down. Can I use the tiles with the mortar on the back of them. None of the tiles have the same amount of mortar on them so I would think that it would make the floor very uneven if the mortar is left on. Can I reuse these tiles? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

As a remodeler,I often have to repair tilework without exact replacements, so need to re-use the existing tile. I get good results from a diamond wheel on a 4" grinder. I place the tile on a firm, gripping surface, hold the grinder so the wheel is at about a 45 degree angle to the tile, and lightly draw the wheel across the tile. It's a good idea to do this outside, but still wear a dust mask-it's messy. Patience is a necessity. Trying to take off too much at a time can damage the tile. I've also done this with tile saws, but it's hard to get enough of an angle to get more than the blade's width of at a pass.
