Sounds like you earthed a component with a charged capacitor.

Try removing all your components and put back in the minimum to run. (1 stick ram, graphic card, Hard drive, power supply).

If its still doing it after that, test your monitor on another machine.

After that, it may be off the workshop to get it tested.

    Hope this helps,
    Louis

When you press the power switch, I assume there's power to the motherboard (does the fan on the CPU's heat sink spin or a light on the motherboard light up?).

Is the motherboard beeping at you? If so what motherboard do you have, and how long are the beeps?

If there are no beeps, it may be the graphics card (I'm assuming you don't even get to see bios on the screen).

Ask someone you know if you can borrow a graphics card and try that in your machine with the minimum amount of hardware in the machine. Make sure you're careful about static, discharge yourself on a table first.

A new graphics card can cost anything from $50 to thousands depending on how well you want it to perform.

    Hope this helps,
    Louis.

I just found something out will this mess anything up G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) the PC2 4200 that is what I got cause newegg.com mermory helper thing said it would work with my comp but HP Pavilion Memory - Pavilion a1034n Computer Memory Upgrade says PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR. Is that what messed it up I have a Pavilion a1034n Computer all stuff it came with I only wanted to upgrade my memory to make it go faster cause it only had 1 GB I don't know how it messed up :*( I just took out old memory and put new one in and heard that sound but the comp was unpluged /sigh

Even if you insert the wrong type ram, bios should beep at you when you boot up as most motherboards have 1024kb on board for bios. The burning out light bulb sound kind of makes me think it's a power supply issue or graphic card issue if the bios isn't beeping at you.
