I don't mean to be rude, or mean.
But okay so this guy I am talking to
    He is 5'6"
And he says he weighs 160 pounds.
Is that fat/overweight for a 16 yr old?
And I want to know if I am being mean.
    I just want to know.
    Anyone?

    :o

He is over weight for a 16 year old. 142 is recommended for 5'6".

But, you are deciding if you like this guy based on weight? Is he a decent person? Does he have similar interests? Is he funny?

That's about the worst reason you can make for dissing him.

    No I never said that.
I don't know if I like him or not.
But I was just thinking about what he would look like
Because I haven't seen him in FOREVER.
    So.
That's not going to be like a balloon, right?
    Lmfao.

The real issue is that it should not matter if he looked like a ballon or not ( which he will not) It sounds like you are really obsessed with what he will look like, not what he is like, if he is nice, if he is a good person.

    I'm sorry?
But I don't know I'm looking to be friends.
    Maybe more than friends.
But I was just wondering if that was overweight or not.

If he's got a large frame he is just barely over weight... You can look for yourself (he could be smaller) at Height and Weight Chart - height weight chart, weight height chart...

I agree with the posts above, though, that if your going to be "more than friends" you should also be sure to evaluate his personality correctly, not just his appearance

I'm sick of being yelled at!
I never said I was judging by appearance all right!
You guys just assumed, so knock it off.
    Because you thought wrong!

It was your question. "he is 5'6" and he says he weighs 160 pounds. Is that fat/overweight for a 16 yr old? And I want to know if I am being mean."

    The answer is "yes".

160 pounds is barley overweight, not worth even thinking about. He's probably just big boned. Its not mean to ask about his weight, but probably best you asked on here instead of asking him. Be subtle about it, ask for a picture.

    Hope this helps,
    Louis.

It is hardly overweight whatsoever you never know - he could be Mr. Muscle! Sorry to be another to say it but yes you are being mean. Who in their right mind goes through life deciding they fancy someone by hearing what they look like - sexual attraction, chemistry and passion is natural and nothing can get in the way of it.

    No that is not fat.
I don't think your being mean. No where is it written that your being cold or cruel to not be attracted to a certain body style. But it is good not to judge someone on physical appearance alone.

Wait and see, and you can judge for yourself. Shallow thinking maybe.

Okay either I feel really mean or all right.
Half of you say I'm mean and cruel.
The other half say its all right to wonder.
Ugh, I just wish I hadn't of asked.

Don't worry about it, nothing to worry about. Everyone has questions they want answering, so ask away.

IF you would have just asked the question " Is he overweight", you would have gotten answers as to if he was or not. By asking if you are mean or rude, you opened yourself up for answers about being rude and thoughtless. Don't feel bad about asking, just know when you ask any question, you need to be prepared to hear many answers, some you will like and others you won't. The important questions is, do you feel mean and rude?
I do not think you are mean or rude, just young and learning to communicate with adults with more maturity than your friends.
In answer to whether he is overweight or not, it would all depend on his muscle mass, only a picture will tell.

The way you ask a question does have a lot to do with the answer you get. Live and learn.

The thing you don't want to do is to stop asking. There will be many more questions in this life.

According to the BMI he is only overweight by 6 pounds. And that doesn't even determine body frame or muscle. He very well could be perfect for his height. Hell, I would kill to be 6 pounds overweight. Lucky guy.
