Air conditioning: should I by one with R22 or r-419A
I am about to buy a central air-conditioning system. Should I buy the new R410 A or stick with the R22 models.

They both work the same. r22 will be available for another 20 years using recycled refrigerant. Let your wallet be your guide.

If its put in right and no damages is done, with the right maitainance the r-22 will out last the unit.freon doesn`t wear out ,it`ll be there 30 years from now ,there a lot of difference in the cost of equipment with the new freon

It's a roll of the dice. You don't see many units this day and time that would last 30 years.(the average may be around 14 to 16 years) Its sad to say but like any thing els they just don't make them like they use to. I would go with the 410 system if I was going to be staying in that home for a long period. Go with the 10 years parts and labor warranty it pays off.

R-410 refrigerant is not better than R-22. They both do the same job.

R22 will be available for another 20 years using recycled refrigerant. It will be available until at least 2030.

R-410 does have some draw backs as compared to R-22.
