:eek: I just had a Inerlock devise insalled (NM Probation Office). I was ordered to not have any alcohol. I use mouth wash first thing in the morning. One hour later I blow just fine to start the vehicle. On a Sunday afternoon (3pm) I was running late for a volleyball tourny. Swished, attempted to start the vehicle and had a failed. It requires to blow 30 min later, I passes and blew many more times during the day and passed. Is this a violation of my prabation?? If so what, what the heck is the devise making me blow again in 30 min?? I'm freaking out!! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

I think your going to have to find an alcohol free mouthwash and I THINK someone should have warned you.

The fail and then require a blow 30 minutes later might be looking for either false positives, act as a deterrent or if someone was drinking, or the operator might try to get someone else to blow for them. The second seems the most likely.

I don't know how to fix, but if it just happened one day after it was installed and you stopped using mouthwash containing alcohol, discussed the incident before they download any info from the device (if that's possible), you might be OK.

Pay attention to ingredients.

Someone else posted something similar in Pennsylvania - it was a violation because the literature that came with the device was very clear about what has an alcohol base and what does not.

I don't know if they give you a first chance or not but will be curious how this works out - PA has some pretty tough DWI - or whatever it's called there - laws and NYS is thinking of going down the same path.
