My sons father and I have been split up for about 3 years now. He hasn't given me a penny ever, not even before we split up. I just want him to give up his rights. I am a single mom and I don't really need him, but I don't want him to be involved in my sons life! He's been in and out of jail the last 3 years. He's a drug abuser and drinks way too much. How can I go about doing this?

You get a lawyer and go to court and hope the judge allows it.

Given his history, the judge might, but courts have to be convinced that it's in the child's best interest.
