    New plumbing leaking
I have already replaced the plumbing under the sink in the bathroom. The problem is the new plumbing is leaking where it connects into the wall and also where it connects to the sink. I have tightened the connectors up as tight as I am able and it still leaks. How can I fix this problem? Thank you.

    HW:

    1) You may have overtightened the connectors from the shutoffs to the faucet (easy to do with newer, braided connectors).
May need to replace the flexible hose connectors.

    2) If you mean that you have compression type shutoffs that are leaking at the wall face, again.. I wonder if you overtightened... these do not have to be cranked on.. just hand tight plus a full turn or so. Did you deburr pipe ends..

We need to know more here... are these compression shutoffs.. Get back to us... Mark

What type of supply tubing are you using? The chrome plated copper tubing that you have to bend to shape with compression fittings or the flexible supply tubing with washers in the connecting nuts.

Remodel Guide: How Bathroom Sink Plumbing Works

I had to find a picture to help me out a little. The sink drain pipe running to the sink trap leaks. Even though I tightened it down. It may also be good for you to know that all the piping is mettle.

From the sink trap to the wall is fine. However, when the water gets to the wall it starts to leak again. I'm not sure why it is doing this, but I only have two more days to get it fixed, and then I leave to go back home.

There is nothing wrong with the flexible supply tubes or the shut off valves.

Thank you again for your help:) I hope this helps.

HW... did you teflon or pipe dope the threads on the 1.25" scratch-threaded tailpiece coming from sink to trap? See the picture below... the tailpiece has teflon tape at area I am wondering if leaking at your sink? If so, like I said remove, teflon/pipe dope and screw together again. Also, just make sure it is not leaking from the retainer nut at the pop up rod into the drain.

If leak is above that tailpiece.. then it is up at the pop-up assembly and suggests that you may have not used putty up at the sink collar.

The leak at wall suggests that you have a compression type nut and washer... did you use a new washer and nut? Or, the old washer and nut? You could try loosening nut/washer and then pipe dope the fitting/washer/nut and try to re-tighten. If that doesn't work then may need to replace with new nut and washer.

You did not solder this trap on... right?

Let us know if we are getting closer.. ok? Mark

If you replaced the popup drain asembly, did you put plumbers putty between the lip of the pop up asembly and the sink?

Show us exactloy where the leaks are,(see image) If you soldered the trap tail into the walol stubout, did you grind and sand off the chrome down to the brass? Let's hear back from you. Tom
