My toilet's soil pipe is leaking. At the back where the waste pipe is connected, the seal seems to have slid out from the bottom. It is leaking from this area and is plain to see. The seal is not all the way out and I have tried to push it back it but after a while it starts leaking again. A plumber has said that the pipe needs to be cut further back and a new one fitted. Unfortunately its behind tiles which I have been asked to remove.

Just wondering if there is anyway of sealing it without having to cut the pipe?

To confirm, the toilet bowl connection is smaller and slides into the waste pipe with a seal which is leaking from underneath.

First of all, is it a new install, was it removed and the floor tiled then reinstalled. is the flange above grade. More details and we could help.

This is a back mounted toilet that sits on the floor... yes?

If plumber has said pipe needs to be cut, most likely it does. However, I do wonder why he cannot just replace the gasket with a new neoprene gasket and reset the toilet..?

Get back to us... confirm connection is at back wall with 4 threaded rods or caps on toilet back... and anything else you may have observed/heard from the plumber... will see what we can do.. ok? Talk soon... Mark

OK I decided to attach the photo to my profile photo so you can see what I am trying to describe. As you can see it's a normal toilet that sits on the floor and has a 4 inch connection going into another pipe which is about 5 inches. From the photo you can see the seal and where it has slightly come out. Its only about 2cm wide but its causing a constant drip. I've tried pushing the seal back in but it bouncers back.

Because there are no tiles on the floor (made out of cork stuff) I was hoping you could just replace the seal by pulling the toilet forward and then pushing it back.

I hope the picture sheds some light on the situation.

After clicking go advanced, click on MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and then browse pictures 'till you find the pic.. then double click it and then click upload... then I can see what the heck is going on over there... ;)

I can't see a thing in that pic... I can maybe make out a toilet seat.
