Are Auto Trap Vents ( the 1 1/2" , $3.79 brand) allowed to be installed in a crawl space under the house? The application is for a toilet, sink and shower. Do that have to be istalled a certain height, or are only certain models okay? I am located in California, do the codes vary state to state?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I wouldn't trust a $3.79 AAV to vent my bathroom group. Iwould invest in a better one such as a Studor Vent, (See image).

Yes, codes very from area to area. Some codes will allow a AAV tobe installed bekow the flood rim of the fixture that being vented and other codes will force you to raise the AAV six inches over the flood rim of the highest fixture being vented. Check with your building department. Good luck, Tom

Codes vary but CA is usually about the strickest place around. I would not advise installing below the flood rim simply because I know how the rim got its name.
