Hi hello,
If my wife filed a 1040a, married filing jointly (option 2) for her and I, for 2007. Can I now file my own joint tax form? Am I eligible for file as head of household?
Thanks a lot,
f.

How can your wife file Married Filing Jointly without your signatures?
You can be head of household, if you maintained a separate house, lived separate from your wife for last six months and have a dependent child.

When you file as Married Filing Jointly (MFJ) both you and wife file one return that combines all your income and deductions. Did she file a 1040A as MFJ but showed only her own income? If so, you must both immediately file an amended return (1040X) with the correct income and deductions for both of you.
I had no income last year. Do we still need to file 1040x?Quote:

If you have already filed the joint return, then you don't file a separate return.
If your file filed a separate return, you don't file a return with no income.
