    Why are you removing dash?

I agree with uncle; what's wrong with the truck and what led you to believe it's inside of the dash?

Hi thanks for your quick response My son had a short in the brake lights. So his friend replaced the 10 amp fuse with a 40 amp fuse. Next thing you know there was heavy smoke in the cab. There is about 4 wires melted bare and becausae there all together looks like some may have fused. Thought maybe if I took off the dash I could rewire them. I'm not sure if this is the best idea? What would be the best way to fix the problem. Thanks Mark.

Your son's friend was completely wrong to do that. The reason it was a 10 amp fuse is so that you wouldn't have this problem.

Take the vehicle to a real mechanic and don't let your son's friend touch anymore of your cars.
