How to use a AAV vent
In the attachement, which is the correct connection for an AAV vent. The standpipe is for a washing machine discharge. Assume the pipe is 2 inches. I assume (from prior answer) there is a desire to place vent vertically close to the p-trap (2 to 5 feet).

What's the best vertical distance to locate inlet above vent?

Also, does the desired configuration permit a sink connection share the same trap (point B)?

    Thank you much!

    Hi again Alpac!

Configuration B is correct. The 2" standpipe needs to be 30 - 36" maximum.

Do not use this trap for the sink.

You can cut another tee fitting into pipe a foot or so below the p trap tee fitting for washing machine and run that to sink with its own AAV... piped exactly as config. B you present for washing machine... except sink will be 1.5" fittings at sink.

Keep me posted... I see you are getting close! Mark

Most codes require the AAV to be at least six inches above the weir of the trap.

I usually put them at 42" in a wall box on a Laundry Standpipe for ease of maintenance.
