    Controls of a 1987 John Deere 160
I have never had a riding mower before and was given a 1987 John Deere 160. It's in great condition, I just have NO clue what all the buttons and levers mean and what there functions are. If someone knows what all these switches and levers do please fill me in!!

    A clueless mower owner

Lever on the left raises and lowers the mowing deck. On the left below your leg adjust the mowing height. This can only be changed when deck lever is in the up position. Lever on the left of the dash is the choke toggle switch on the upper right turns the mower on. Lower pedel on left is the clutch. Lower pedel on the right is the brake. Shifter is on your right hip.
