    Ceiling fan direction
I just moved into a house with a hampton bay ceiling fan model 52A4H4L. The original remote was missing so the owner gave us a universal to install. I didn't have to install anything, just reprogrammed the transmitter and it works fine, but I can't figure out how to make the fan change direction. It's not blowing air down, it's taking air up. There's no switch on the fan to make it change directions. Anyone know how to do this?

If the problem is in the original motor wiring : there have to be at least three connections to an electric motor besides the earthing contact.
Each motor has normally two windings, with one common point (neutral) and two power points interconnected with a capacitor. You have to moved the power lead to the other side of the capacitor, to get the fanmotor to reverse directions. Just make sure upon changing the motor wiring that the motor does not overheat.
Please let me know if the above is clear and functional.
    Success.

That will not work for a remote fan.

There's a trick on these forums somewhere to convince the remote receiver to reverse. Something to do with stopping the fan, spinning it in the desired direction, starting it again, and something. See if you can turn it up with a search. If that doesn't work, you will have to buy a remote with a reverse function.

Your transmitter won't work, or the fan won't reverse?

Contact the manufacturer and get the correct remote that goes with the fan.
