    Upstair Neighbor
    What can I do about my upstair neighbor. I've calling my landlord about them putting carpet and padding on their floor for six month her grandchildren they running back forward across the floor and jumping up and down on the floor and when they aren't their the be moving furniture back and forward across floor. Can please help! Is there someone I can call to get this take care of.

    When are they doing this? Generally, between the hours of 9AM and 10PM a certain amount of noise is reasonable. You would have to have a noise specialist measure the noise to see if it exceeds legal limits for any govt agency to step in. Have you spoken to the neighbors themselves? They might not be aware of the disturbance the grandkids are making.

    Actually the noise ordinances are usually from 7AM until 11PM in most localities. After 11PM they should be quiet. They can make all the reasonable noise they want to from 7AM until 11PM and there is nothing you can do short of buying a rug for them yourself... or move. That's why I hate living with someone above me or beside me as they are MOST inconsiderate to put it mildly.

    Yes, this was one seroius rule they told me when I moved into my first apartment ever in my 50 plus years. Never live down stairs because you will hear everything the other people do.

    If this is during the day, there is normally nothing that can or will be done.
    You can not force them to put in carpet.
