Laying down in front of a heater
Is it bad for your dog to lay down in front of the heater. He usually lays about two feet away from it. He is a boston terrier.

My dog lays in front of the fireplace, I check her every once in awhile and make her move if she feels really hot. It should be OK, how hot does it get?

My dogs, Chihuahuas, often lay in front of the heater to keep warm. Do make sure that your dog does not get to close, if he has thick fur. At our daughters farm, an outside heater is often frequented by the cats and dogs that roam. Two of the cats have actually received scorch marks on their fur, from when they got to close. So, animals with thicker fur can get singed and not even feel it. So, for your dogs safety, just keep a good eye on how close he gets. Other then that, no, it won't harm your dog.

He doesn't have thick hair but sometimes he looks like he has dandruff. And I am not sure if laying down in front of the heater does that.
