    Dvd Ripping
    Hello,
Can u inform me, that which software rip a movie from a dvd in hdd with very very high quality picture & occupied a little space?

Actually I got some movies, which are compressed by xvid encoder & the file size of each movie is 699 MB, Quality is very high, Screen size is minimum 640x480, maximum 720x576, Length of those movies are 1hr 25 min, 1hr 48min, 1hr 37min, 2hr 10min. How is this possible? A movie in any duration is occupied only 699-700 MB:eek: . One more thing all the movies are in avi format.

So which software is used for this.

Well there are a couple software apps that can help you out here. Most avi movies are going to be an average of 700mb. When you rip a DVD to avi, it will be around 700mb.
Now, if you rip a movie to .rmvb, it will come out about 400mb or smaller.

Now consider, you can put approx. 6 avi movies per dvd, or you put 1 movie per cd-r.
And you can do the math with .rm files.

Now with this app below, you have the options to convert to whatever you like(about 20 diff formats) you can test out different ones till you get which one works for you
Ripping a dvd can take 1 to 2 hours sometimes

    Here is homepage info
Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum and there is a standard edition which is 10$ us cheaper

Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum 5: DVD rip software, rip DVD perfectly

    Hope this helps

The most often used amonst many people in forums is this one or Magic DVD Ripper
It's really up to each person's opinion to be honest
Magic DVD Ripper - rip DVD to hard drive or blank DVD
The other thing to consider here, magic only gives you the option to rip to avi,wmv,mp4,mp3 and vcd/svcd - and qaulity is very good
So if you would keep with the avi format and not worry about the size of your files compared to reducing the size to .rm format - I personally would go with magic dvd ripper, keep the file size at 700mb and burn 6-7 movies to 1 dvd
I personally have 100 movies all in avi on dvd, I can't complain
One last thought, my opinion if ripped to .divx - the best quality

Please note that almost all commercial DVDs have DRM protections. The software to get around such protections is illegal. This site will not support piracy.
