Furnace makes buzzing noise on startup
    Hello friends,

A few months ago, my gas forced air furnace began making a "buzzing" noise every time it turns on when heat is called for. When the inducer motor starts the noise begins and as soon as the blower starts up, the noise is gone.

We have had our HVAC guy out a couple of times. We had the inducer motor/assembly replaced which seemed like the logical explanation but... the problem continues! Also, the noise is barely noticeable when you are standing right next to the furnace but is much more noticeable when you get away from the furnace a bit... as if it is resonating in the ductwork. The technician assures us that the furnace is working fine which seems to be true but the noise is annoying. It has gotten to the point that I am almost used to it but we are about to put our home up for sale and I am quite certain that prospective buyers will be more than a bit concerned about buying our home with this going on.

The furnace is a Carrier Weather Maker 9200 ultra high efficiency furnace and it has electronic ignition. It is 11 to 12 years old and has been maintained regularly as we have always had a maintenance contract. Our HVAC guy will be coming back later this week to take another look.

There has to be something simpler than replacing the furnace... Any ideas??

Thanks in advance for your help!

Look into the 24 volt transformer. Sometimes they will have loose laminations and when taxed to provide more current they buzz.
