    Ohio Employee Laws
Okay, I have a question. I have tried to research this myself and can't find what I am looking for.

In Ohio, if an employee works a 4 or 5 hour shift - are they intitled to a break? Even a 5 minute one?

How many hours worked before one gets a break?

My company is trying to take away all breaks except lunch, which you wouldn't get unless you are scheduled for 6 hours.

I also saw where it is federal law that if your breaks are shorter than 20 minutes, the company should pay your for them.
Do you know if the state also has that law?

There are no federal laws for breaks even lunch for 4/5 hours
You are right about being paid for breaks under 20 minutes
Ohio has no laws on breaks
Many states go by 4 or 5 hours do not require breaks or lunch

    Exceptions for minors under 18.

    Just so I understand...

If I am only working a 4 or 5 hour shift - I do not get a break at all?
I think if I work a 6 hour shift a get a 30 minute lunch break (unpaid) which is fine - I am just curious if breaks through out the day are required by law.

And what about those employees that put in at least an 8 hour shift - do they only get a lunch break?

No breaks are required by federal law or many state laws.
It is up to the employer.
8 hours get half hour lunch, breaks still no federal law. Ohio no law.

Okay. We were told today that the breaks we had been given in the past - were going to be no longer. It was like a 5 minute break - no big deal.
One of my co-workers got extremely upset, so I thought I would check it out.
    Thanks for the info.
