OK, I tried jumping the solenoid and the engine (14hp Kohler) turns, but will not fire. The key is in the on position, but no fire getting to the plug. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Could be a bad kill wire, or ignition switch. Remove the blower housing to gain access to the coil, remove the kill wire and see if it will start. Check safety switches.
