I have inherited an Adam Schaaf piano from my grandparents.
The number on the insied is 52747. I was wandering if any one could tell me the age of this paino.

I found this if it helps (1st is the year and then the serial #'s, i.e.. 1920(year)-53000(serial #'s starting at)

So, it would appear that the age would be around 1919 or 1920, according to the chart. If you would like to know other things about it physically and maintenance wise, please give me a holler because a couple of the things that I do for a living is that I am a piano tuner/technician and also a professional pianist.

I have an Adam Schaff Baby Grand Piano which was my parents. Serial #61935, which makes it from 1922 according to your prior notice.

The piano has the Black finish. When my Dad bought it about 30 years ago, it had been restored. It is dirty and I would like to give it a good cleaning and buff the finish. Is there anything I should or should not use? Any information you could supply would be helpful. Also, do you tune Pianos or can you recommend anyone?

Hi, Mike!

By a black finish, what do you mean? Is it a lacquer, latex or oil finish of some kind? Most likely, it's not the original finish that was on the piano when it was manufactured. Depending on the type of finish that is on it, there are a number of ways of going about cleaning and buffing it.

Would it be possible for you to post a couple of images of it here, like one of the whole instrument and one that is a close-up of the finish?

As far as tuning is concerned and recommending someone, please read my post #3 above and also it would help to know where the instrument is located.
