    Teenager and parenting problems
I have a friend (no this isn't about me) who wanted me to Find out stuff for him
He currently lives with his mom and little brother she's an OK parent I don't have anything against her but she leaves him alone constantly to watch his little brother who's 11 I don't think its fair he is 17 and has no freedom he hardly goes out with friends I mean I guess 2 3 times a week for acouple hours but she sleeps at her boyfriends house and he has to watch him he seems to have the responciblity of watching him all day till like 10 or 11 at night and if he rebels and goes out later or when he wants when he's not in the mood to deal with anything she threats to kick him out? What should he do is it legal to kick a kid out of the house with no job? At only turned 17? Should he have such a responciblity to have to watch his brother constantly? I mean baby sittings OK but he doesn't get paid
And I've been hanging out at his house since he can't go out and he watches his brother from 330 till 10 or 11 deppending the days I don't know what to tell him but I think he needs to think about his future any adults out there have any helpful info?
I don't want to tell him to just move out he can support himself yet and needs schooling like most teenagers

10 or 11 at night is not an unacceptable curfew for children at age 17... The mother should not leave them overnight, however, and some, if not most places, yes it's legal to kick out a 17 year old with no job, or at least where I am from, as 17 is the age of legal emancipation from the parents, but it may be different where you live though, so you may want to do some research..

Either way, she shouldn't be out partying or staying with her boyfriend and leaving the kids home alone..

Mom is obviously elsewhere with the boyfriend. I would turn this irresponsible mom in to the authorities as she is not at work and leaves the older son to essentially raise the younger brother. If mom had a second job that would be a different situation. You did not indicate what she was doing.

I don't think its really partying and such I don't want to make her look bad I'm just saying she's out a lot and I mean A lot I just feel bad for the situation he is in and I think its Harsh to Use threats against him he already has to deal with school and watching his brother I just don't think her boyfriend likes kids so he and his little brother stay home all day doing nothing but video games and such it just seems like my friend is the parent and I'm looking into the legal ages from around my place

If she kicks him out wonder what she will do for a babysitter... or would she just have the boyfriend over her house instead

I would ask if maybe there is other family he could talk to? A aunt or uncle... grandma or grandpa? Is his dad still in the picture some place? Unless she is out and involved in illegal activity there is not much any one can do.

Well I feel that you should help him oput sincr your his friend and or tell him 2 talk wit his mom about it and c what she says and or he can just stick it out until 1 more year when he's old enough 2 move out on his own and or he can either get a job and have something 2 do so she can't say anything to him and he can either move out if he feels so wrapped up and needs space 2 himself
