Left USA : Dual status return?
    Hi experts,

I read Pub 519 and read posts on this forum on dual status vs Non-Residential(NR) return
    Still the issue confuses me.

I worked in the US on H1B from oct 2006 till Oct end 2007 ( I was on F1 before that) and left for India permanently
I have no US related income for my non-residential portion.

    1) Should I file a dual status return or NR return only?

    2) In case I have to file dual status return do I file 1040NR as blank for financial portion
    With 1040 attached?

I would really appreciate your help since I have hit the wall on this one.

    Thanks a lot.

    1) You need to file an expatriate dual-status return.

    2) On an expatriate dual-status return, the tax calculations are done on the Form 1040NR.
