    Depo. Birth control shot
I was just put on the shot after having my baby in December. My first period lasted for an entire month, then I only had a two week break before my period started up again. My doctor said it would make my period lighter and last shorter or not have one at all. It seems like the depo. Shot is making me have my period all the time. Has this ever happened to anyone else? What would be a better alternative?

One of the risks with Depo Provera is the possibility of bone loss in long term use, which is why I wouldn't recommend it. Also, it takes the body a while to get used to new hormones such as birth control, so the lighter period and no period at all will take time and not be instantaneous.
We all know the post partum body acts in crazy ways which could be the cause of most of your problems. I would suggest talking with your OB/GYN and also do your own research online with all the other forms on contraception. Here is a link you may find helpful.

For the record, I've taken Yasmin birth control pills for years and I have no side effects.

I tried birth control pills once to regulate my period, man are those pills bad for some of us! I gained 4 lbs. in one week. My heart rate was so fast and I was so aggressive. I was starving all the time. I quit after a week. I use protection with my fiancé and we we do get ready to have babies, so we will and then he will have a vasectomy. He would hate to see me so sick on those pills. Most have horrible side effects.

As a medical professional I disagree by stating most birth control pills do not have horrible side effects. Of course, different people respond to different medication differently. Most birth control pills have mild side related to them such as breast tenderness, changes in period, or slight weight gain, but again the body gets used to these hormones usually after the first month the symptoms subside. One week is not long enough to tell how a body really responds to any type of medication (unless you are allergic of course).
