I am j1 post doctoral research scholar . I would like to know how can I get Itemised deduction and exemption deduction... Is there any treaty for exemption between India and USA??

Under the U.S.-India Tax Treaty, you MAY be completely exempt from taxation for two years.

If not, then you ARE exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes for two years, though you are liable for federal and state income taxes.
