There are probably a lot more options, but here are a few:

    1) There is cement board and/or green board that is the backing for either painted or ceramic tile in bathrooms.
    2) You can lower the ceiling in the shower area. That keeps a lot of the moisture in the shower area and not everywhere in the bathroom.
    3) Install an exhaust fan, either humidity controlled or have the fan operate about 20 minutes after it's turned off using a delay-on-break timer. Panasonic has been suggested as one of the quieter ones. I like the ones with a light, fan and infrared heat lamp. The lamp will always warm your body and not the room.

Hypegrl - You can also get in different collars ,colars with designes, They come in 4'x8' panels and is called ( MARALITE ) they are plastic coated masonnite, and if installed right will last a long time. It even comes in 4"x$" squares and lookes just like ceramic tile , Home depot & Lowe's handle it , and most lumber yards. And even some bldg. salvage . co.'s, but if you get it from them ,you pick the pieces you want because they are bad at loading pices that are bad . There is also Plastic surrounds to just slide in , they come in different designs, some that are 1 piece, some 3piece some4 piece, But I think th highest you can get is 76" above the top of the tub, they gl;ue up, just get the right kind of glue, some glues will melt right throw the plastic, like CONSTRUCTION ADDESVIVE. ( 76"= 6'-4" ) Before you decide , take a look at these pannels and tub - shower rap around. I hope I have helped you in some way ,If I have ,Rate my answer below ,;; Good luck & GOD BLESS ::: F.B.E.
