Smell in basement from sump pump?
We have a basement bathroom and a pump in the closet directly across from the bathroom that pumps the sewage out. There is a horrible smell coming from it. It is relatively new and in good operating order. Is there something we can put in the sump pit or around it to get rid of the smell. Someone mentioned maybe lime might work?

Do you know if this ejector pit is properly sealed and vented? Who did the installation and was there any warrantee?

What's nthe name of the system you have? How long have you had it? Did this just start or has it been ongoing? This isn't a op-en pit we're talking about is it? If it's a closed pit then if the dedicated vent from the pit,( you do have one don't you?) is blocked you would get a blowback of sewer gas every time you flushed or drained a fixture. Back to you, Tom
