    Cant sleep!
My boyfriend has been sober for 3 months and since then he has trouble sleeping. It's really hard on both of us! He has gone to his doctors and the first time he just gave him advice. The second time he gave him anti-depressants and said it should help him. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice? Or any suggestions for him to get sleep! I will try anything! Thank you.

Look on the web for articles on Melatonin. People use this to help with jet lag and sleeping problems. It's an amino acid that will help you get to sleep naturally with no side effects at all. Take 3 mg at night under your tongue and let the tablets dissolve. He should be able to get to sleep within a 1/2 hour. If not, take another 1mg pill. You can buy these sublingual pills online. The sublingual (dissolve under tongue) is the only way to use this amino acid because if you swallow a pill with it the stomach acid dissolves it and it does not enter the blood stream and essentially gets destroyed by the stomach acid). I have had problems sleeping for 35 plus years until I discovered Melatonin. I sleep very well every night with no side effects or after effects and wake up feeling like I got a really good night's sleep. I use Vitaminlife.com and order from them. A bottle of 300 1mg pills is less than $20 and they have a $6 shipping charge. Try that before going onto some anti-depressant that has horrible after effects and horrible side effects.

Is he going to his AA meetings? He needs to be very active with 12 Step members who can help him as no other person can.

    Encourage him to go.

I have had good results with melatonin that I swallowed, but sublingual is probably more efficient. Does your boyfriend drink pop with caffeine or coffee? Caffeine can keep you awake a lot longer if you aren't drinking alcohol.
