Help bird won't take care of eggs
I have a bird. SHe has laid 7 eggs now. The weird thing is she keeps laying eggs but does not have a partner. Well she did, but the partner fought with her and popped her eye. The eye is better now.We separated him to a different cage. Now she keeps laying eggs and is not taking care of them. I have not touched them or anything. Does anyone know the problem?

    Thanks:(

I hope someone else helps you with this question, as I don't consider myself a real expert in this category, but I have had birds before so I'll give it a shot...

If she's laying without a partner, the eggs are likely not fertilized, and hence won't become a chick. So I would think that would be why she's not caring for them. I used to have a love bird that laid eggs all the time, but since she was a single bird, she just left the eggs alone.

orange is right... they are not fertile. Birds know when something is wrong with the eggs so they won't take care of them... let me know how it works out... good luck
