External Hard Drive turned off, now comp won't find it.
I turned off my External Hard Drive cause it was making a clicking sound, that was annoying me. Turned it off let it cool down for a while turned it back on the next day. Now I cannot find the Drive on my computer. I don't know where to start. Please help.

    Greatly appreciated:)

A clicking sound on a HDD is a repositioning attempt of the heads.
So it is a hardware problem. Hard to solve. I once successfully replaced the print board of the HDD with an identical board of such a HDD.

Sorry but I think you have got a big problem. If the data is very important you can send it to a specialized firm in data recovery. But... very expensive and even then no guaranties.

Buy a new one and remember that a HDD is still a Boeing 747 at top speed 1 meter above the sea. So no sudden movements wile it is running.

Buy an other one and good luck

    Kees.
