    Balancing a reaction
    I am having trouble balancing this reaction. Any ideas... or can anyone figure it out? :confused:

    KIO3 + NaHSO3 --> I2 + Na2SO4 + H2SO4 + K2SO4 + H20

    I have actually never been taught the half reaction way to balance... but that's awesome, thank you so much!

    First of all, thank you for posting your question to the Ask Me Help Desk!
    Assuming there are no typos, here is what I come up with.

    4 KIO3 + 10 NaHSO3 --> 2 I2 + 5 Na2SO4 + 3 H2SO4 + 2 K2SO4 + 2 H2O

    This was balanced using the half-reaction method.
    I hope this was helpful to you.
