Car with lien in Mexico without bank permission
I faxed full coverage insurance info to the bank but they now claim they never gave me permission to take the car to Mexico. Since that time I have been unable to make payments and they are looking to repossess. I might be in Mexico for an indefinite period and just alerted the bank to my exact address and offered to continue making payments to save them the expense of repossession in another country as well as my not returning to the U.S. so they can collect repo expenses from me. The rep told me that they would check the legality of my taking the car out of the country when there records indicate they did not give me permission.

What are the legal implications and what other advice can you give me?

    Thank you.

Umm, check your loan contract. I dobut if there is any language in there that says you have to obtain permission to take the car out of the country.

If you have been unable to make payments and they are looking to repossess your vehicle your offer to "continue making payments" is not going to save you from repossession. You would have to bring the payments up to date.

I am not aware you cannot take a vehicle out of this country and question whether it's an insurance question - perhaps you cannot get collision insurance on the car in the amount required by the bank? Or perhaps you cannot get insurance at all?

Could this be a spin off your contempt of court citation and wanting to move your money out of the US?
