I would think the father of your son does have financial responsibility for him whether your son has his surname or not.

    Hello d:

Go to family court. Either go yourself, or hire a lawyer.

Ok, you did not say where you live, so a lot will depend on the law of the nation where you live.

Here in the US, what you have to do, is take him to family court for a custody order and a order of support.
I will assume you are in the US since you said SSS,

If the father is not listed on the birth certificate, you will need to prove he is the father by a DNA test that the court willl order.

Your first step will be to see a attorney.

Of course he has rights. Why would you think otherwise? Every parent is supposed to provide support for their children. That's what families are for.

So you march down to your local Family court immediately and file a petititon for Child support. Since his name is on the birth certificate and the father acknowledges paternity this should be a slam dunk. I would advise getting an attorney to file for you to make sure you get the most you can.

I know that every child is entitled support from both parents, You would have to go to court to have an order established. That is the first step in receiving support for your child.

What if he don't cooperate with us? If he don't want to give financial support?

OK, you go to court, the court will order it, if he still does not pay, you take him back to court and see if the court will find him in contempt.
And if you ask, the court will take it out of his pay check before he ever gets it,

Also there are child enforcement agencies in many states, they can put him in jail, perhaps take away his drivers license and other things to help force him.

dhenzky120507... what country do you live in? If you are in the United States, what State?
Like Fr_Chuck said earlier in this threat a lot depends on what country you are in.
